Clear Lake funder set for Saturday

By ERIC A. HOWALD Of the Keizertimes Clear Lake Elementary School is hosting its annual dinner and auction at Keizer Civic Center Saturday, March 14. The event includes silent and big-ticket auction items as well as a four-course meal donated by McNary Restaurant. Tickets are $20 per person or $120 for a table of eight and available at the door. The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. and expected to end by 9 p.m. An after party at McNary Restaurant will follow from 9 to 11 p.m. Some of the bigger items are a week’s vacation, and a couple of trips to the beach, one in Lincoln City and one in Pacific City. Classrooms each do a themed basket, and the teachers do teacher experience allowing students to get to know the educators on a more personal level. “Something like a breakfast with the principal or a guitar lesson,” said April McVay, one of the fundraiser organizers. Principal Tara Baldridge said the proceeds from the event help offset the costs of student experiences such as: family evening events; classroom supplies; the Summer Library Program which supports the opening of the library for two hours a week during the summer; annual field trips for each grade level, including a multi-day Outdoor School for fifth graders.
