ServeFest returns Sunday

By CRAIG MURPHY Of the Keizertimes If you are looking to go to a regular church service this Sunday, Lakepoint Community Church at the Keizer Civic Center isn’t the place to go. If you want to see a church in action, however, the civic center is the perfect place to go. For the sixth time, Lakepoint is hosting ServeFest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21. The church meets weekly at the civic center, located at 930 Chemawa Road NE. Event coordinator Rachel Taylor said ServeFest is a ministry that encourages Christians to “be the church,” serving needs within the community. About 200 church members will help out at the free event, which will provide lunches, family photos, haircuts, manicures, a wellness clinic including vaccinations, bicycle repair, a children’s carnival and more. There will also be free school supplies, personal care items, clothing and surprise raffle items. One of those items is new this year. “This year we will not have the pet clinic available, but we will have a wonderful children’s carnival outside on the lawn,” Taylor said.
