MHS goes renaissance for Knight of Arts
The McNary High School fine arts department raised more than $29,000 at its annual Knight of Arts gala, March 8.
The total includes money set aside for $5,000 in scholarships for current McNary students, but doesn’t include two donated guitars – one from the event’s oral auction and one from Bob Zielinski – or a recording session at Marigold Studios bought by a bidder and then donated back to the fine arts program.
“McNary High School art teachers are amazing people who put all their heart, soul and energy into caring for and supporting kids – our kids. I am proud to work alongside them,” said Leah Garro, president of the Fine Arts Booster Club.
The Keizer Elks stepped up with a $2,000 donation, separate from the evenings’ proceeds, that was used to stage the music, drama and arts celebration.
