A new level of focus and determination in the Lady Celts of the McNary High School varsity volleyball team earned them a berth in the state playoff tournament Saturday, Oct. 26.
The team put on impressive showing in a sweep of the Century High School Jaguars.
“The girls did play very well. They have been playing like that in their tournaments, so it was good to see them bring what they can do to their home court. We are peaking in our play at the right time of the year. The girls have stayed focused all season, and they did not let the early season loses effect them,” said Kellie Scholl, McNary head coach.
The win was so impressive that McNary never let Century take a lead in any set.
“I’m really happy with tonight’s game, and I am just really excited about it,” said Lady Celt Lexi Price. “I think we were really celebrating every point and playing our butts off.”
The 3-0 play-in win kept the Celtics’ season alive as they headed into the first round of the state tournament. The Celtics met Clackamas High School Wednesday, Oct. 30, past press time.
