To the Editor:

The Keizer Fire District is asking the people within the district to continue to support emergency services in the upcoming November election.

The fact is the district has not raised their levy in 10 years and we know, all too well, that the cost in our own lives has increased significantly during that time. The Keizer Fire staff has given up cost of living raises twice and has volunteered to freeze their salaries during the past few years in order to balance the fragile fire budget.

It is well known that receiving emergency services within six minutes is crucial for both fighting fires and delivering medical care. The Keizer Fire District will absolutely not be able to provide critical services without an increase in their levy.

I urge everyone to support the Fire District levy and vote yes.
