City leaders late last week posted a job opening for the parks supervisor position.
Machell DePina, Human Resources director for Keizer, said the closing date for applications will be Monday, Sept. 16.
Terry Witham officially retired from the city on June 6. DePina said Witham had worked for the city for almost 17 years, with his position changing a few times during his Public Works career. He was named Parks Supervisor in November 2009.
Since Witham’s retirement, Robert Johnson has been serving as the interim Parks Supervisor. Johnson has been with the city since November 2007.
The Parks Supervisor reports to the Public Works director in Keizer, a job held by Bill Lawyer. Lawyer took over the job last year on an interim basis following the retirement of Rob Kissler, then was selected for the permanent position.
Technically, the classification title for the parks job is now Municipal Utility Worker III – Parks. The working title is Parks and Facilities Supervisor.
“As a part of a recent review and update of all city job descriptions, we added facilities to this classification,” DePina said.
