An ongoing investigation led to a Keizer drug dealer being arrested last week.
Sgt. Andrew Copeland with the Keizer Police Department said Gerald Leroy Peterson III, 28, was arrested on Chemawa Road Aug. 22. A further search resulted in the arrest of Lauren Marie Schnickels, 27. Schnickels’ 3-year-old daughter was taken into protective custody by Department of Human Services officials.
Copeland noted Peterson had been watched for a while.
“It was a couple of weeks ago when we were led onto Mr. Peterson,” Copeland said. “We knew he was dealing heroin. We used a cooperating defendant to make three purchases in a two-week period. The fourth purchase is when we had the warrant signed. Each time we had a buy, we observed.”
