Ever feel like throwing something at a mayor?
If so, this Saturday is your chance.
In fact, Keizer Mayor Lore Christopher is fully expecting to have things thrown at her during the Pig in the Park fundraiser at Keizer Rapids Park.
The Hawaiian Luau-themed event, put on by the Keizer Chamber Foundation, kicks off at 5:30 p.m. this Saturday at the park. Tickets are $20, with proceeds going to help the foundation’s Christmas Basket program, public arts and support of education and leadership.
Food includes roasted pig, pineapple upside cake and a couple of types of salad. Gilgamesh Brewing is catering the food.
The evening also includes live Hawaiian-themed music by Koral Jam and a chance to throw teddy bears, borrowing on an idea from hockey games.
“I’m the target,” Christopher said with a chuckle. “They can try to throw a teddy bear at me.”
Beyond the potential satisfaction of hitting the city’s top elected official with a rainbow-colored stuffed bear, there is also the longer lasting good.
