Richard K. “Dick” Miller passed away July 23, 2013 at the age of 81.
He was born November 11, 1931 in Enterprise, Ore. to Conrad and Rita (Litch) Miller.
Dick was raised in Enterprise and graduated from Kamiah High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy.
After his discharge, he moved to Salem where he attended Willamette Law School. In 1963 Dick married Marilyn Frances Hartshorne-Wages. He owned Action Realty and later began working for the State of Oregon, in the Worker’s Compensation Department.
In 1978 Dick moved to Enterprise where he owned and operated the Range Rider Tavern. In the early 1990s they moved to Roseburg, where he worked as a Claims Examiner in the Compensation Department of Roseburg Forest Products.
After retirement, Dick and Marilyn moved to Keizer to be near family. He was a longtime member of the VFW and the NRA. Dick enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially deer and elk hunting and training his bird dogs. He also coached baseball and Little League.
The last several years Dick has been dedicated to caring for his wife Marilyn.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert J. “Tex” Miller and William “Bill” Miller.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marilyn of Keizer; son, Rick (Mindi) Miller of Pendleton; daughters, Nanci Gogle of Keizer, Lynn (Jim) Maxwell of Steilacoom, Wash., Sue Mooers of Keizer, Karen (Joe) Van Meter of Keizer and Billie (Tom) Knapp of Salem; grandchildren Devon, Jason, Shea, Mark, Christine, Jay, Sara, Preston, Heather, Shannon, Laura, Andy and Karli; 12 great-grandchildren; nephews, Mike and Don and niece, Janelle.
Private services will be held at a later date in Enterprise. Arrangements are being handled by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
