To the Editor:

I want to thank the past Keizer City Council for their forward thinking when they decided to help build Keizer Station with urban renewal money.

Even though there was some risk,  we now have a large taxing area instead of some low tax farm properties. I don’t know what services we would have without the property tax from this developed area. It took leadership to analyze and to take a calculated risk if Keizer was to move forward.

Although I don’t like the layout, Keizer Station provides us with a shopping center that our city desperately needed. We may soon have a hotel and a first class restaurant there. In the future, I would like to see a movie theater there, also. I am relatively sure that Keizer would not have the medical profession moving to our city had it not been for the construction of Keizer Station. Mayor Lore Christopher has been the leader in promoting Keizer and she should be recognized and thanked for her effort.
