John P. Rizzo has announced his candidacy for the Keizer Fire District Board Position No. 1 in the May 21 election.
“My interest in this is to support and pay back for all the assistance I received during my law enforcement career from fire rescue professionals,” said Rizzo, who first became a state trooper in Klamath Falls in 1976. “Fire rescue personnel were hard to beat to an accident scene. They arrived, set up traffic control, secured the scene, assisted the injured and made the entire investigation proceed in a safe manner.
“I could never thank them enough, especially for their response in some of the coldest, wintery weather at accident scenes for hours,” Rizzo added.
