Schrader hits wide variety of topics

By CRAIG MURPHY Of the Keizertimes U.S. Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-Canby) visited a school, newspapers and even got back in touch with his veterinarian side Monday. Schrader, who has represented the 5th District since being elected to Congress in 2008, talked on topics ranging from schools to post offices to politics in a wide-ranging meeting with the Keizertimes editorial board. The visit followed Schrader’s tour of the new Cesar Chavez Elementary in Salem, which opened last fall. “Some people assume we still have the 1950s little red schoolhouse,” Schrader said. “It’s just not that way anymore. The world has changed dramatically.
