To the Editor:

While the prospect of a major soccer field complex northeast of Keizer is indeed exciting, residents of McNary Estates, Country Glen, Hidden Creek and the north edge of the Gubser/14th St. neighborhoods need to take special interest and concern.

Any change to the lay of the land in the area, currently used for the cultivation of grass sod and onions, which includes the addition of parking areas and buildings, also has the potential to disburse a lot of surface water. That water is going to end up in Labish Ditch. Labish Ditch has a history of overflowing into the mentioned neighborhoods.

Any development upstream of these neighborhoods must be conducted as to not place residential areas down stream at risk.
