For mayor: Dave McKane

To the Editor: I’m supporting David McKane for mayor of Keizer. I have known David for several years and find him to be a conscientious and considerate individual who is interested in the views and opinions of those he serves as a Keizer city councilor. David looks at economic issues through conservative lenses in keeping with what we should expect from our elected officials. His service on the Keizer city council has informed him on the issues facing our city and has prepared him well to serve as mayor. Lore Christopher has done a fine job for the last decade but just as the interests of our community are served by many and divergent voices so, too, is the leadership of our government. Our city’s motto is “Pride, Spirit and Volunteerism” and the time has come for another’s voice, David McKane. Mike Smith...

For council: Quinn, Smith

To the Editor: Follow my lead and write-in Brandon Smith for Council Position 2. Having lived in Keizer for 29 years I’ve seen many councilors come and go. Brandon deserves our vote and we deserve his community-wide view and reasoned approach to resolving issues. We do not deserve the emotional approach of a person with little respect for decorum at public meetings. Be sure to fill-in the box that says “Write-in” and then write-in Brandon Smith. We should all vote for Marlene Quinn for Council Position 3. Her many years of volunteer contributions to community organizations and city committees prove she is committed, knowledgable and just simply knows more about the community and how to get things done than her competitors. Jim Jacks Keizer   To the Editor: I was pleased to learn that Brandon Smith would agree to continue serving as a Keizer City Councilor if he wins as a write-in candidate. This is very fortunate for the residents of Keizer. Brandon’s years of experience along with his institutional memory on the city council are especially important this year as we need continuity in order to maintain our momentum as the city continues to move forward after the recession.  Brandon has been a strong supporter of improving the quality of life in Keizer on issues ranging from supporting youth baseball to business development. For position number 3, Marlene...

For council: Marlene Quinn

To the Editor: Marlene Quinn is the best choice for Keizer City Council Position #3. She chose to move here when her children were young so they could grow up in a wonderful community. She has consistently invested her own time and talent in Keizer, getting involved and making a positive difference.  Her experience, strong work ethic, and common sense approach to problem solving will serve all of us well. Please vote for Marlene Quinn, council position #3. Cathy Clark...

For council: Eamon Bishop

To the Editor: I am fortunate enough to know Eamon Bishop personally and hold him in high regard.  A person of reason and integrity, we have a sensible choice for the Keizer City Council. In a time when it appears that Keizer finds itself with a governing body that suffers from selective hearing and is deaf to the cries of the citizens and has repeatedly found itself at odds with the citizens on key issues they placed in front of the voters at the ballot box.  It is time to have someone on the council that will respect the process, listen to the testimony, and investigate the facts before making decisions on issues, especially ones that have a lasting effect on the livelihood of our city and its citizens.  Eamon is such a person; he is not seeking this position with an agenda of some sort of personal gain or glory.  He defines himself as a public servant who puts the wants and needs of the constituency before all else. This is a refreshing choice we have on the ballot this November.  Join me in voting for Eamon Bishop for Keizer City Council Position 3. Mike Welter...

My choice for mayor and councilor

To the Editor: I worked with the mayor and city council for three years as a Budget Committee member and got to see first hand the internal workings and personalities of the city staff, mayor and councilors.  I am supporting Lore Christopher as the best choice as mayor of Keizer.  Lore is a very caring and dedicated lady who has spent countless hours as our current mayor, and has done an outstanding job.  She works hard to serve the needs of all the citizens of Keizer, to listen to their needs, and to make it a beautiful and wholesome place to live.  She spends countless hours at council meetings and city events to support her home town, all of which are in a volunteer capacity without pay.  She cares deeply about the needs of the city and those who live here. In addition, please write in Brandon Smith to remain as councilor in position #2.  He also has served many hours working hard to keep our city safe, while making it a better place to live.  He is the best choice for council position #2, and I ask you to support Brandon. Please join me in voting for Lore Christopher as mayor, and Brandon Smith as councilor position #2 as the most respectful, caring, fair, balanced decisions, and best people to guide the city of Keizer.
