A rollover crash near Wheatland and Brooklake roads severed a natural gas line, causing authorities to divert nearby traffic.
Only one car was involved in the incident. A red four-door sedan was traveling northbound on Wheatland Road at about 7:32 p.m. when it left the roadway, rolled over at least once and struck a natural gas pedestal, severing a five-inch line. The driver and passenger suffered minor injuries and were treated on scene.
Gas was clearly coming out of the break when crews arrived according to Battalion Chief Patrick Wineman of Marion County Fire District No. 1.
Traffic was closed on Wheatland between Ravena Drive and Brooklake Road, and Brooklake was closed off west of River Road NE.
Deputies from Marion County Sheriff’s Department also responded.
