A suspicious package found Monday night at the Albertsons grocery in Keizer turned out to be a Christmas ornament.
Keizer Police responded to an employee’s call at about 5:55 p.m. Monday evening after finding a package at the bottle return station. The worker had opened it and thought it may be an electronic device.
Keizer Police arrived and cleared the parking lot and immediate surrounding area as a precaution, and called in the Salem Police Bomb Squad.
The store was temporarily closed as bomb squad officers analyzed the package and determined its contents.
Officers are still trying to find out who left the package there and why. Anyone with information is asked to call 503-390-3713.
