A Salem man on the sex offender registry is suspected of trespassing at an adult care facility on Arleta Avenue NE.
Keizer Police arrested the suspect, who has been convicted of public indecency and sex abuse, after he reported to his probation officer. Officers had been tracking the man after obtaining photos from the adult care facility.
The initial incident was at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29. Staff at the business heard someone in the bushes and then saw someone they didn’t know inside the building.
After initially ignoring requests to leave, he walked out and shortly after re-entered through a different door.
Officer Scott Keniston obtained a photograph and shared it with crime analyst Cara Steele. She sent out the photo in a weekly crime bulletin to officers, two of whom – Carrie Anderson and Jeremy Worledge – said they recognized the man.
Detective Vaughn Edsall verified the suspect’s identity, and police arranged for him to be arrested at his probation appointment.
Arrested was Todd Michael Stiffler, 42, of Salem, for second-degree criminal trespass.
Anyone with information on this or related incidents is asked to call Edsall at 503-390-3713 ext. 3465.
