This year’s Keizer Young Life fundraiser offers a taste of both area restaurants and what the organization does.
A Taste of Young Life kicks off at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 6 at the Keizer Civic Center. Tickets are $15 and available by registering at keizer.younglife.org or calling 503-463-1516.
The “taste” is in lieu of the group’s traditional live auction. A silent auction will feature samples from Mommy and Maddi’s, Adam’s Rib Smokehouse, McGrath’s Fish House, The Sassy Onion, Big Town Hero, La Hacienda Real and Baskin Robbins.
“We wanted it to have a relational feel,” said Jeramy Williams, area director of Keizer Young Life. “The idea of enjoying food and friendship together will give people a chance to engage more.”
The silent auction features trips to Sunriver and Black Butte along with several chances at an Oregon Coast vacation. Also up for bid is a wine tasting tour and courtside seats to the Portland Trailblazers.
But Williams is even more excited that part of the program will focus on what Young Life kids do every week at their meetings.
“They’re going to sing, see a skit, see a message – a little taste of what we do every Monday night so they can experience it for themselves,” Williams said.
Williams wanted to shake up this year’s event, he said.
“We’ve done a regular auction for a long time, and while it was successful we thought maybe it was time to try a different direction,” he said.
