E. Hepburn

Ms. Hepburn, of Keizer, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011. She was 80.

Born Sept. 8, 1931, in Chappaqua, NY to Alwyn and Betty (Walta) Knight, she was raised along the east coast. She married Charles Hepburn in Colorado Springs in 1950. She earned two masters degrees, one in English from Wayne State College in Nebraska and in counseling from Western Oregon State University.

She worked as a college professor, public relations director, hospital chaplain and mental health counselor until she retired from Northwest Human Services in 1996. A member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church and AAUW, she enjoyed traveling, music and movies.

Survivors include: her life partner, Susan Jones of Keizer; five children, Anne Ore of Three Forks, Mont., Susan Huberty of St. Paul, Minn., Kathryn Lyons of Durham, N.C., Jim Hepburn of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Sam Hepburn of Barstow, Calif; former husband, Charles Hepburn of Philadelphia; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial mass will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Willamette Lutheran Retirement Homes in Keizer.
