A Keizer official starts his new job as city administrator of Junction City next month.
Kevin Watson has been Keizer’s assistant to the city manager since 2008. He said the new role is similar to that of a city manager. Junction City has a population of approximately 5,392. He starts his new duties Aug. 10.
His responsibilities for the City of Keizer included emergency management and supervising the city’s community center, ensuring customers have everything they need.
“It’s definitely one of the most fun and interesting projects I’ve had,” Watson said. “And it’s still changing.”
Watson, 30 joined the city in May 2008 after a stint as industrial redevelopment manager for the cities of Dallas, Independence and Monmouth. He holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Kansas and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Oklahoma State University.
“I’ll cherish my time in Keizer,” Watson said.
Watson’s position in Keizer was eliminated for the 2011-12 budget year due to ongoing funding shortfalls.
