• A vehicle crashed into a house in the 5400 block of Chehalis Drive N., and the driver said his dog made him do it.
Dale Q. Nelson, 39, of Keizer, was headed westbound on Lockhaven Drive NE at about 11:26 a.m. Saturday, July 2, when the dog on his lap “interfered with his driving” causing him to hit the curb, cross a lane of oncoming traffic and strike a house, said Keizer Police Lt. John Troncoso. No one was hurt and only minor damage was reported to the house. Nelson was cited for careless driving.
• A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle at Manzanita Avenue and McLeod Lane NE at about 7:15 p.m. Saturday, July 2. While reports were preliminary, injuries appeared to be minor.
• An off-duty police officer reported a 1998 Ford Contour moving erratically near Verda Lane and Salem Parkway.
Jeronimo Rojo-Peralta, 38, was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants.
• Three juvenile girls were playing inside an 1986 Chevrolet pickup truck parked in a driveway in the 6900 block of Fenwick Court N. The truck was knocked out of gear, then rolled down the driveway and hit a vehicle across the street. Minor damage was reported.
