Salem leaders lukewarm to growth boundary expansion

By JASON COX Of the Keizertimes SALEM ― A possible urban growth boundary expansion drew little interest from Salem’s mayor and several city councilors at a Monday night work session. Several Salem city councilors urged a regional approach, saying the proximity of the two cities to one another makes political boundaries less important, while at the same time they reminded Keizerites that choosing to incorporate in 1982 carried consequences with it. Mole’s now offering mattresses

By JASON COX Of the Keizertimes A Keizer businessman is expanding his offerings with a new mattress store. Amir Fathizadeh, who owns Mole’s Appliance at 3800 River Road, has opened up Mole’s Discount Mattress just next door in Suite 180. Opening the store didn’t present that many obstacles, he said: For one, he owns the building. Second, he’s offering remanufactured mattresses, which he said means he can sell them well below new prices. In the remanufacturing process, Fathizadeh said, the mattress frames are stripped down to the frame, stuffed with the material of choice, and sewn back up with a new quilt. He offers regular mattresses and box springs along with pillow-top and superfoam in the 4,000 sq. ft. space. At Mole’s Appliance he carries new washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers and more alongside used and scratch-and-dent models. Fathizadeh lives in Keizer.
