New business brings splash of COLOR

By JASON COX Of the Keizertimes A new Keizer Station offering aims to appeal to the creative side in everyone. Color Me Mine opened Friday, March 25, next to Massage Envy.  [MAP: 2] The store offers all sorts of ceramics for painting and glazing. It’s the chain’s first Oregon location, but studios are in 10 countries and 26 states. “We emphasize fun,” said owner Ron Baumer. He’s owned businesses for the past 20 years, but this is his first Color Me Mine. Here’s how it works: Customers come in and choose from a large variety of unpainted ceramic items, be they cups, figurines, bowls, plates and more. Prices start at about $8 and are all-inclusive. Baumer noted the chain is licensed to carry Disney figurines. Then the buyer heads over to the design center, where they can find not only trays and 68 paint colors, but all kinds of ideas for how to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. The painter can choose from some 300 designs on hand or create their own. Photos can even be added to the mix. Staff can also give various tips on what may work best for a particular design, even recommending different techniques based on the desired outcome.
