A group of McNary High School students is looking for someone to help them put together a spirit flag they will bequeath to future Celtics.
“Our class seems to have a lot more spirit than some others and we wanted to have something to rally around,” said Hugo Nicholas, a McNary senior.
The flag is being created as part of an independent study project involving several seniors, including Bren Bovee and Jake Hunter.
“We thought it would be an appropriate gift from our class to the school,” Hunter said.
The team is hoping for a 4-by-6-foot flag that would be used and displayed during sporting events and rallies.
“We want it to last for a long time, so we are seeking the help of someone who really knows what they’re doing behind a sewing machine,” Bovee said.
The initial designs call for a dual-sided flag with three alternating panels and the letters “MHS” on one side, and a solid background on the reverse side and the words “GO BIG BLUE.”
Bovee, Hunter and Nicholas have money for the necessary materials, but donations wouldn’t be turned away.
