McNary High School’s wrestling camp for kids in kindergarten through middle school kicks off Monday, Oct. 25.
The camp runs three weeks – Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays – through Wednesday, Nov. 10, and meets from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. in the McNary upper gym. Cost is $25 per child of $40 for a family.
Last year, several of the camp participants competed and placed in regional, state and national tournaments, said Jason Ebbs, head coach of the McNary High School wrestling program.
“We had 6 kids travel to Pocatello, Idaho, and competed in an 11-state tournament and, from there, two went on to compete in a ntional tournament in Orem, Utah,” Ebbs said.
Sign-up forms are available at Keizer 7-11s, Starbucks, Roth’s IGA and Albertsons.
Participants will learn about the agility, techniques and strength essential to the sport and focus on a team philosophy of commitment and can-do attitude.
Camps are designed to spark interest in wrestling for those who have never tried the sport and hone the skills of veteran wrestlers.
