A three-vehicle accident at River Road and Dearborn Avenue in Keizer Thursday afternoon sent two to a local hospital, authorities said.
The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, according to Keizer Police Lt. Alan McCowan.
It’s believed a white Ford Windstar van was traveling northbound on River Road at about 1:45 p.m. Thursdsay when it veered into the southbound lanes, hitting head-on a gray Subaru Forrester that was headed southbound on River Road, police said. The Subaru skidded backwards onto the lawn at Mommy and Maddi’s, a nearby restaurant.
McCowan and other emergency officials on scene did not yet know why the van drifted into oncoming traffic.
A third vehicle, a beige Ford Explorer, also struck the van as it was sitting in southbound traffic.
The driver of the van, 79-year-old Marc Hannible of Keizer, was transported to a local hospital, as was Conny Backer, 50, of Salem. Both were conscious at the scene, police said.
The driver of the Ford Explorer, reported as Steve Ellison, 56, of Keizer, was not transported.
