Police said a homeowner caught a burglar in the act – his own niece – Friday, May 14.
According to Keizer Police, officers responded to a burglary that had just occurred in the Cherry Avenue and Clearview Drive area at about 5:06 p.m. They were told the homeowner, a 62-year-old man who lives in the 700 block of Bever Drive NE, was chasing the suspect on foot.
Officers shortly after located the suspect and took her into custody. The homeowner said he wasn’t hurt, and said he had come home to see his niece running from the front of the home. He also said the front window had been pried open.
Police said the suspect had some 35 prescription pill bottles, which had drugs that included Vicodine and other prescribed painkillers and sleep aids. She also had aerosol spray designed for dusting. Users can get high by huffing this substance, Sgt. Greg Barber of Keizer Police.
Arrested was Matallica F. Paulk, 18, of Keizer, for burglary, possession of a controlled substance, and a probation violation warrant for a previous robbery charge.
